CROCE DEL SUD
• A myth, a legend and a name that everyone knows even without being a connoisseurs. With the Croce del Sud we are in the pure aristocracy of sailing and a unique story. Built in the 1930s by the Martinolich yard in Lussinpiccolo in Istria, designed by Nicolo’ Martinoli, She is one of the very few yachts that since her launch in 1933 has only ever had one name and one family of owners.
• “She’s going on for eighty, but She has the sassiness of an eighteen year-old and the mature beauty of a real queen of the sea” says her Captain, Andrea Coscia who was at the helm of the Croce del Sud on the days of the Veteran Big Boat Rally of Semptember 2011. “Being in command of this gem is really thrilling. The old waterlines restored to their
original purity togetherwith the masts and yards, which are still those of the launch, are merged with the technology and efficiency of the on-board instrumentation, which can be expected of a modern yacht”.
• This miracle has been possible thanks to the 40.000 hours of work, from September 2008 through July 2011, involved no fewer than 7 production departments of the Amico Yard work in a hangar of almost 10.000 square feet on the hull, the deck, the electrical wiring, the galley, the engines and the masts and yardsof the shooner. With a difficult, but
stimulating lask: conservation and restoration that did not betray any of the original features of the boat and at the same time make it an efficient yacht, with today’s safely standards, enjoyable to handle and comfortable for cruising for (at least) the next 20 years.
SY Croce del Sud is the ideal yacht for real sailing lovers. Guest on board can join the crew and participate in the sailing of the yacht, being also ideal for a Team building guests.
