Enjoy the highlights from the Grand Opening of Sanlorenzo Australia offices on 21st November 2024.
The event was held at the home of Sanlorenzo Australia at Jones Bay Superyacht Marina, a heritage marina in the heart of Sydney Harbour. The Grand Opening was also a stage for the Australian debut of Bluegame, a Sanlorenzo brand, with the bestselling BGX 63 on display. The BGX63 was accompanied by two iconic Sanlorenzo yachts, an SX76 and LANCE, an SD126.
Sanlorenzo Asia-Pacific is proud to announce the grand opening of its new Sanlorenzo Australia office at the prestigious Jones Bay Wharf in Sydney. The celebratory event was marked by the Australian debut of Bluegame’s award-winning BGX63 model, a yacht renowned for its avant-garde design and seamless integration of interior and exterior spaces. As an integral part of the Sanlorenzo Group, Bluegame shares the brand’s passion for innovation and luxury, offering a range of versatile sport utility yachts that perfectly complement Sanlorenzo’s tailored approach to yachting. Alongside the Bluegame BGX63, Sanlorenzo showcased two of its most iconic models—the innovative cross-over yacht SX76 and the superb tri-deck superyacht SD126, available for charter in the region.
The grand opening not only celebrates Sanlorenzo’s and Bluegame’s growing footprint in Australia but also highlights the increasing demand for luxury yachts in the Asia-Pacific market. Australia is among the top 10 countries globally for superyacht ownership, reflecting the established demand for bespoke, high-quality vessels that stand out from the mainstream supply. This makes the country an essential part of Sanlorenzo’s growth strategy in the Asia-Pacific region, as the appetite for sophisticated and unique yachting experiences continues to rise. Australia was also recently identified in the Asia-Pacific Superyacht Market Report 2024 by SuperyachtTimes.com as the country with the largest number of owned yachts in the region, with at least 145 yachts over 30 metres.
With its breathtaking coastline, vibrant marina culture, and mature clientele, Australia is well-established as a premier destination for yacht owners and enthusiasts alike. Joachim Howard, Country Sales Manager for Sanlorenzo Australia, highlights the importance of the local market, “The opening of Sanlorenzo Australia emphasises our confidence in the Australian market as a key player in the global yachting scene. Australia has long been recognised as a thriving market for luxury yachts, with over 2.5 million recreational boats registered across the country, including a significant segment of high-end motor yachts and superyachts. With the stunning natural beauty of the region, coupled with a strong appreciation for italian luxury brands, Australia is the perfect stage to showcase Sanlorenzo’s unparalleled craftsmanship and innovation. We are thrilled to bring our customers closer to the world of tailor-made yachting.”
Luca Cristino, CEO of Simpson Marine Group, echoed this sentiment: “Sanlorenzo’s expansion into Australia is a testament to our commitment to serving the Asia-Pacific region with excellence and precision. The debut of the Bluegame BGX63 and our iconic models, the SX76 and SD126, signals the next chapter in our mission to bring the ultimate yachting experience to new audiences. Key hubs such as Sydney, the Gold Coast, and Perth serve as epicenters for yachting activities, offering stunning cruising grounds like the Whitsundays, the Great Barrier Reef, and Sydney Harbour. Australia is already home to several Sanlorenzo yachts, and our aim is to expand this elite community with more exceptional vessels arriving soon. With this new office, we also aim to build deeper connections with our clients and redefine yachting luxury in Australia.”
The event was further elevated by exclusive partnerships with Chopard and Technogym, adding an additional layer of elegance to the evening. Guests were treated to an immersive experience of Italian craftsmanship, innovation, and luxury, complemented by the stunning waterfront setting of Jones Bay Wharf.
With the establishment of the Sanlorenzo Australia office, the company is poised to serve Australian clients with bespoke yachts and superyachts that reflect its values of elegance, innovation, and sustainability. Looking ahead to 2025, Sanlorenzo APAC is set to participate in key regional events, including the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, where it plans to exhibit its latest yachts arriving in the region.
More about Sanlorenzo:
For over 60 years, Sanlorenzo has been a worldwide-recognized Made in Italy icon, producing custom-built, top-of-the-line motoryachts that blend quality, design and craftmanship with the most advanced and sustainable engineering and technological solutions. The shipyard, the world’s first mono-brand in the production of yachts and superyachts over 24m, was founded in 1958 in Limite sull’Arno, near Florence, by two shipwrights, Gianfranco Cecchi and Giuliano Pecchia. In 1972 it was taken over by Giovanni Jannetti, who moved its head quarters to Ameglia in 1999. In 2005, Massimo Perotti with twenty years of experience in the sector-picked up the baton by purchasing the company.
The strong drive for innovation that has characterised the company’s vision has enabled the company to introduce numerous solutions over the years that have profoundly changed the yachting world, such as the terraces within the hull, the asymmetrical layout or the open space concept onboard. Fundamental in this path was the close collaboration with the world of design and architecture, developed entrusting the realisation of the interiors of its yachts to authoritative signatures such as Rodolfo Dordoni, Citterio Viel, Piero Lissoni,Patricia Urquiola and Studio Christian Liaigre. If design, innovation and art were the drivers of the 2010-2020 decade in Sanlorenzo’s vision, for the decade up to 2030 the focus lies on sustainability and technological revolution, attention to the supply chain and services dedicated to its clientele.
The company has set out a clear path toward carbon neutrality, the “Road to 2030,” which is embodied in exclusive strategic agreements with the world’s largest players in the fields of mobility and sustainable energy, such as Siemens Energy and Rolls-Royce Solution GmbH-Global Marine (MTU), for the development of the most innovative and environmentally friendly solutions for Sanlorenzo and subsidiary Bluegame’s yachts, such as green methanol and hydrogen, which will revolutionize the boating world in the coming years.
Furthermore, in 2024 Sanlorenzo announced the signing of a Binding Agreement for the purchase of the Nautor Swan Group, worldwide iconic brand engaged in the design, construction, sale and refit of top-end sailing yachts with Swan, Maxi Swan, and ClubSwan range, as well as motoryachts under Swan Shadow, Swan OverShadow and Swan Arrow models. Consistent with its identifying values, Sanlorenzo’s commitment to sustainability and the promotion of marine culture is also expressed through two prestigious projects. The Fondazione Sanlorenzo, strongly wanted by the Perotti family, which, born in 2022, implements actions aimed at supporting Italy’s minor islands and improving the economic and social conditions of their communities, starting with their youngest members. Sanlorenzo Arts Venice, the Group’s new cultural research center, a founding member of the Venice World Capital of Sustainability Foundation: a hybrid space dedicated to culture and the arts, encapsulating Sanlorenzo’s values of sustainability, innovation and design, which aims to contribute to a global movement to foster positive change, for a more sustainable future.
