Superyacht Australia National Committee Appointment

15 May 2016

Ocean Alliance committee member of Superyacht Australia

15 May 2016 – By Laurie Foulon

This May 2016, Joachim Howard, founder and Managing Director of Ocean Alliance, was appointed to the Superyacht Australia National Committee.

A significant lobbying body in the Australian yachting industry, this appointment acknowledges Joachim’s experience and involvement in the changing landscape and regulatory evolution which drives the local superyacht industry forward.

The next board meeting will take place on Monday 16th May 2016, prior to the ASMEX Superyacht Industry Conference in Sanctuary Cove, Queensland, on the sunny East Coast of Australia.

Among several regulatory projects, Superyacht Australia’s most recent focus was selecting a working group to promote the superyacht sector during the 2018 Commonwealth Games, taking place in the Gold Coast. Superyacht Australia see the games as a significant platform to promote the Australian superyacht industry and especially to promote the use of superyachts for VIP accommodation and functions. This is a great opportunity to showcase the exclusive nature of this industry to international and Australian VIPs attending the event. It is also opportune for the government to look at the infrastructure in Queensland to support a superyacht visitation programme. Superyacht Australia have been promoting the Commonwealth Games at international boat shows and is seeking more support from the government and tourism bodies to drive this. It is envisaged that the Commonwealth Games has the ability to attract superyacht Owners from across Australia as well as the Asia Pacific region.
