Often when you think of detoxing, you think of bland, green smoothies which need to be suffered through to achieve a more zen-like existence.  It is time to think again.  Detoxing is about making sure the food which goes into your body is like the fresh, clean and unprocessed as it can be.  Some of the greatest, freshest and unique fresh produce can be found, and subsequently devoured, in Australian bush tucker.

Here are a few ideas to discuss with Ocean Alliance and the yacht’s private chef for your next superyacht charter.

Lemon myrtle

There is no better place to indulge in fresh fish than on a superyacht.  Catch it during the day and have it simply but exquisitely prepared for dinner.  Perhaps you have fished in The Kimberley and have caught the famed Barramundi.  In which case, combining the fish with lemon myrtle and mountain pepper leaf – another two great Australian ingredients – will produce a light meal packed with antioxidants, nutrients and flavour.

Davidson Plum

This plum is native to Australia and found along the Great Barrier Reef coastline right down to Sydney Harbour.  It is a sour fruit but packed with vitamin C and lutein for improved eye health.  Davidson plum is extremely versatile as it works well with both savoury and sweet dishes.  For something simply delicious, ask for Davidson Plum Vanilla cupcakes.  These sweet morsels made with guilt-free almond and coconut are a gorgeous treat after a morning yoga session on the foredeck of the superyacht.

Mountain pepperberry

As the name suggests, this Australian indigenous plant can provide some spice to a dish or give a curry a distinctly Australian flavour.  Yet more than that, it has more antioxidants than blueberries and was used as a medicinal plant by the Aborigines to promote better health.  This amazing ingredient is prolific in Tasmania and you have not lived until you have tasted freshly prepared Tasmanian salmon cured with mountain pepperberry.
