Fiji Open for Superyacht Charter

28 September 2020

The South Pacific paradise of Fiji is open for superyacht charter after the government approved a ‘Blue Lane’ initiative to allow yachts to enter the country. Importantly, superyacht charter tax in Fiji has been reduced and the mandatory 14-day quarantine period can be carried out onboard your vessel, so you lose no time in enjoying Fiji’s splendour. The magnificent cruising grounds and blissful island retreats of Fiji can once again be explored by superyachts, and this is an enticing option for the many who are well overdue a luxury escape.

Fiji, and the South Pacific in general, has had great comparative success in mitigating the spread of Covid-19. Fiji has had no community spread Covid cases since June, and is one of the safest and exciting destinations in the world for charter. This South Pacific gem is blessed with outstanding natural beauty, rich cultural experiences and over 300 islands to uncover, leading to fabulous coral reefs and pristine beaches.

Under the new initiative, crew will need to take a Covid test 72 hours prior to departure, and will be given approval to depart for Fiji once negative test results are received. The quarantine period of 14 days will include passage time to Fiji, and the remaining days can be carried out while berthed at the splendid Port Denarau Marina. Owners and guests will also require a Covid test 72 hours before boarding their flight, although their quarantine period in Fiji will be spend onboard the superyacht, so upon arrival they can immediately begin cruising through the region’s exhilarating waters. An official chase boat will accompany the yacht for the first 14 days to ensure that the quarantine period goes smoothly.

Itineraries will be supplied before departing for Fiji, and there is no limit to activities that can be enjoyed as long as there is no contact with the local community. This means that all watersports, beach visits and scenic hikes can be integrated into the itinerary. All of Fiji’s glorious 300 islands are open for cruising, so you will feel very much in your own private world as you explore this stunning region from the privacy and opulence of your superyacht.

Those wishing to charter a superyacht in Fiji will also benefit from another incentive given by the government, with superyacht charter tax reduced from 10% to 5%. Right now, it is hard to imagine a more perfect destination for superyacht adventures.
